Lux Family Law are passionate, energetic and dynamic. The team has experience at the highest level having acted for entrepreneurs, media personalities and in the highest courts in the land. Their approach is simple, they offer discrete, bespoke advice that is honest, straight talking and that focusses on clients’ individual objectives and needs. They offer an exceptional service with support and guidance at what can be the most stressful period in a client’s life.

Origins

Charlotte Leyshon, the founder of Lux felt that South Wales was ready for a boutique family law practice that focussed on discerning high net worth clients who wanted a discrete, bespoke and polished service delivered with care and empathy. She saw there was a gap in the market for a fresh and innovative approach to family law akin to a concierge service. Charlotte had previously been Head of Family at a large multi-disciplinary practice where, to a large extent, she felt her “wings were clipped” as she could not provide the offering she wanted as it had to fit within the overall very “corporate” strategy of the firm. She knew that she could offer something more akin to a private client offering but this came with all the worry and responsibility of not having the safety net of a big firm (and the pay packet).

Success Factor

The initial assessment that the market was ready for a new offering was correct. The different style and approach to family law was different to what has been traditionally seen in South Wales. The angle of the high net worth, discerning client tapped into the wealthier clientele and this new approach quickly led to recommendations and referrals. Also the calibre of work from Lux speaks for itself acting for entrepreneurs, sports people and people in the entertainment industry. In addition, a reported case in the High Court adds kudos to the firm’s calibre and expertise. Finally, the team has been built from within with both Lucy Morris and Emily Borghese having been trained by Charlotte Leyshon and in the house style which demands polish and excellence. This has made a huge impact reputationally that Lux is a team who perform and advise at the highest level on the most complex of cases. This has led to a significant number of professional referrals from other lawyers in South Wales who do not practise in family law.

The Future

Lux aims to continue to ensure that growth is responsive but also consistent in terms of excellence, and based on current workload and staff figures, Lux expects to have a team of 12 within three years. A significant amount of the firm’s work is now outside of Wales with around 35% being practised in London. The five year plan is to continue to grow in response to work load and not grow for growth’s sake. However, within the next five years, it is aiming to open a London office, headed up by Charlotte.

In partnership with UBS, the world’s leading global wealth manager, this year, Fast Growth 50 will rank the companies based on turnover growth in eight nations and regions across the UK.
