Evabuild Interiors (Cardiff)

The company was founded in February 2014 by Mark Davies, Dan Townsend and Nick Evans who all had extensive experience in senior managerial roles within various other companies, so felt that they could pool their resources and experience to establish a successful, sustainable business that would provide for their young families. Focusing on the quality and delivery of projects, Dan and Mark drew on their experience within the interiors industry to establish and develop EvaBuild Interiors Ltd into a successful young company with an ever-expanding client base, focusing on delivering successful projects on budget and on time. Being a small start-up business with limited capital resources; professionalism and work ethic were essential to establishing a good reputation. The main challenges faced by the business in the start-up years was being patient in developing relationships, credit history and having to control the growth of the business to ensure it maintains the quality and sustainability that it was intended to be set up with. The last two years have been about starting to establish a workforce infrastructure that helps support the business’s growth; but the management team have also pro-actively protected the operating performance to ensure the business value matures. Getting this balance right has required careful consideration when developing, agreeing and monitoring the business plan.

Success Factor

The three key factors that have contributed to the rapid growth of the business would be a competent, well informed management team that’s been able to make decisions proactively and reactively when required; having a solid and supportive client base that recognises, acknowledges and genuinely values the contribution that we make to a project; and re-investing the profits into the business to secure premises, workforce, and finance demonstrating that the business has the capital, commitment, and expertise to take on the larger projects.

The Future

The plan is to grow to £2.5M turnover by 2020 which is achievable whilst continuing to establish a sound infrastructure that includes the company’s management team, financial stability and dynamic client mix. The company has already made great progress, retaining key client contracts to the value of circa £1million, whilst continuing to attract new clients on a monthly basis. Being mindful to reduce the risk of client dependency ensures the plans to grow aren’t compromised by sustainability. Evabuild Interiors has also now established itself perfectly within the industry to start offering the design element and now has an in-house design department which offers 2D & 3D designs and space planning.
