Origins

The motivation to start the company was to provide a tailored service to a variety of clients throughout the industry, the passion and dedication within founding directors Carl Clement and Phillip Spratt is a major factor why the company has grown to where it is today.

Our main challenges when starting the business

As a new business, the initial challenges were managing cashflow and securing contracts, other challenges have been around attracting the right calibre of staff to join BFL on its journey, as the business has grown and its reputation enhanced within the industry this has become a lot easier. Further challenges have been around developing BFL presence within an already crowded market and planning strategic growth that is sustainable from cash flow and operational circumstances.

Success Factor

BFL was originally started up as an Electrical Contractor back in 2006 but having seen a gap in the market in 2015, it opened an in-house mechanical division to offer both M&E combined packages and split packages to new and existing customers. The mechanical division has without doubt added growth to the business, with BFL now offering M&E Services, many of its existing and new customers are now using the additional services that it provides which has seen the expansion of BFL as an organisation. In 2015, BFL appointed former British and Irish Lions and Wales rugby player Richard Hibbard as business development director and this has helped the branding of BFL. With Richard working hard in recruiting new business and new opportunities, this has contributed a lot with the growth of BFL. Another major factor has been the success of relationships with existing customers, having delivered a high-end service for them over many years, many customers are now using BFL for larger projects resulting in further growth.

The Future

BFL has a strategic and sustainable growth plan in place for the next five years and believes the company culture, where the company invests in its staff at all levels helps to create an atmosphere where all staff are committed to delivering its projects to the highest of standards. This is a major factor in providing a platform for the company to further develop. Its aim is to target new potential customers that are carrying out the larger projects which BFL now believes it can deliver, whilst maintaining its high standards with existing customers and growingorders with them also.
