The main motivation for starting the business was the desire to provide a quality, bespoke solution to key local accounts. The major challenges were funding, staff recruitment and facilities.

Success Factor

Since inception, the business has been given excellent support by the Royal Bank of Scotland. It also has dedicated, experienced and capable staff and a loyal client base.

The Future

The business has performed reasonably well during the challenging trading conditions and has held its sales performance at a stable level. This has been achieved despite the loss of a few major clients who have unfortunately fallen victims to the economic downturn. It has taken the decision to consolidate the business during this period in order to provide it with a stable platform for future growth. Over the next few years, CCS McLays intends to expand its product offering further into the retail sector across the UK and increase its current turnover of £9 million per annum to over £20 million by 2012.
