DVS Ltd.

Both directors have been involved in either the installation or distribution of CCTV equipment for a combination of 30 years, and they felt that a gap in the market existed for the supply of high quality, mid-range priced products. The main challenges to DVS Ltd has been the continual sourcing and testing of products to ensure very high quality and reliable products with a failure rate of less than 2%. Although this is an ongoing procedure the nucleus of the product base is now complete. Due to the nature of importing, the organisation needs to pay for all products in advance, therefore cashflow has been tight in periods and will be again as it continues to grow. Whilst part of the initial business involved the manufacture of PC based digital recorders, this proved to be unprofitable and a change of approach to the business was required which initially proved costly in its implementation, although its rewards are now being reaped.

Success Factor

The three main factors in the continuing success of DVS are good quality products, competitive pricing, and the drive and ambition of the team. The business is also implementing ISO 9001:2000 quality management standards to improve the inherent structure of the company in the future.

The Future

There will continued organic growth of the company through a continual expansion of product range and recruitment of further regional sales representatives. DVS will also conduct a full launch of all new Internet Protocol CCTV products in November 2008 and review the possibility of opening a branch in South East England.
