Origins

Ategi started as a not for profit company limited by guarantee, in 1994 and became a registered charity in 1999. The organisation’s major challenges during it first few years were controlling the demands of local authority purchasers.

Success Factor

A strong part of the organisation’s philosophy is that everybody in ategi is part of the company and contributes to its success. Ategi prides itself ourselves on the good quality services that are provided to the people supported and it carefully plans and uses tools such as I.I.P to benchmark its success.

The Future

The future plans for the business are expansion of the adult placement service and the development of further specialism in supporting people with autism. Ategi will also expand its domiciliary support service to people living with their families in Cardiff and Rhondda Cynon Taff, and develop day service activities for people including the acquisition of a drop in centre. The company’s core goals will be to ensure that the vulnerable people its supports have community presence, choice, development of their own individual competence and experience, participation and respect.
