Founded in 1994, New Directions (Recruitment) Ltd was originally based in London. Whilst commuting between his home in Cardiff and the London base, Jeffrey Tune - now managing director of New Directions (Recruitment) Ltd - developed a successful headhunting’ and specialist recruitment consultancy. The business relocated to Cardiff in 1996 and was already firmly established as a leader in its field. With the continued growth in business, the company subsequently moved to larger premises in St Mary Street in Cardiff in August 2001.The business has been well managed and efficiently run so as not to encounter any major challenges, dealing with cash flow obstacles by sound financial management that has seen the company trade continually in profit and eliminate any need for overdrafts or loans from the bank.

Success Factor

New Directions (Recruitment) Ltd main areas of growth have resulted from its development of bespoke ‘Education’ and ‘Social Care’ divisions. By employing sector specialists who fully understand the workplace they are recruiting in, both clients and candidates have been provided with a first class service that has nurtured healthy and sustainable relationships. Team building and employee retention is an important factor in the growth of the firm. With a very minor exception, the team at New Directions (Recruitment) Ltd has remained constant and grown organically. Finally, the firm has invested in excess of a quarter of a million pounds in keeping up with the latest technology to ensure that it remains at the ‘cutting edge’ of business, the recruitment industry and the sectors it recruits for.

The Future

According to Jeffrey Tune, New Directions (Recruitment) Ltd has ambitious plans to become "the most profitable company in Wales". The company is also in the process of setting up regional offices throughout the UK to build on its current success in London and the South East of England. Areas being considered for future regional offices include Birmingham, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Belfast. Having developed strong international relationships, New Directions (Recruitment) Ltd is also undertaking a feasibility study into the possibility of developing satellite operations in Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and Spain.
