Monex Ltd.

Origins

The Tredegar-based company was founded in 1995 by James Howells under the guidance of his father Rhys Howells. Rhys, who had sold his own successful haulage firm to Christian Salveson in the 1980s, was aware that a gap existed in the marketplace for a highly efficient transport company, providing a totally flexible operation at all levels.

Success Factor

The firm values personal development extremely highly and staff are encouraged to move forward through training. Each member of the workforce is seen to provide a vital link in the chain that makes Monex the strong, successful and professional logistics provider it has become. Recent investments in IT allow real-time satellite tracking for consignment monitoring, computerised traffic operation and allow customers stockholding inventory at their fingertips via dial-up networking.

The Future

Monex occupied additional warehousing in South Wales, and re-locating the Avounmouth operation into a 35,000 sq ft. warehouse with substantial yard area to facilitate the continued growth of this operation. It also acquired the ‘Container Center’ in Avonmouth that operates vehicle-mounted cranes, lifting containers, portable building and machinery. It established German Hub System, utilising 5 Regional Hubs, to expand and improve its German groupage service. Monex also achieved 50th position in the Sunday Times/Virgin Atlantic, ‘Fast Track 100’.
