Anthony A. Davies


The company started as a sole trader in 1980 by Anthony at the age of 23. Following an apprenticeship as a carpenter and joiner, he had an ambition to start his own business. He purchased the workshop of a retiring funeral director and began making purpose-made joinery. The major challenges faced by Anthony included the rapid increase in orders which led to working seven days a week; recruitment of additional staff; lack of awareness of available funding; no secretarial staff and credit control.

Success Factor

The primary success factor for the business has been focusing on a business plan, being proactive and directing the business where the founders wanted it to go. The business has also adapted to change through being innovative and ensuring that the core values of the company - honesty and integrity, teamwork, exceeding customer expectation and being skilled and reliable – are followed through the stages of development.

The Future

The business aims to develop staff skills to meet the demands that the company requires and develop more strategic partnerships with specific suppliers. It also aims to provide an in-house service from planning to handover of projects, securing the majority of contracts through negotiation and partnering and becoming involved in speculative building projects
